Every weeknight, Scott Van Pelt hosts the midnight ET edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter. However, it’s going to be a little bit until fans can tune in to watch Van Pelt again.

On Thursday, Van Pelt announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be taking some time off.

“Thankfully, no fever & I feel fine. Just can’t smell or taste anything which was my clue to go get a test,” Van Pelt tweeted. “So, I will hunker down and hopefully can be back at it before too long.”

Van Pelt, 54, has been working for ESPN since 2001, and he’s been in his current role as the sole host of the late SportsCenter since 2015. He previously contributed in a number of different ways to the network.

Earlier this year, Van Pelt moved his SportsCenter broadcast from ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol, Conn., to near Washington, D.C. He is a native of Brookeville, Md., and attended the University of Maryland, so it was an opportunity to work closer to home.

Van Pelt will likely continue to update his status on Twitter and could later provide more information on when he’ll be returning to SportsCenter.
