The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission awarded Maryland Stadium Sub, LLC, performing business as Fanatics Sportsbook a mobile sports wagering license today after the sportsbook successfully completed a controlled demonstration of its sports wagering platform.

Fanatics Sportsbook is the tenth online sports betting operator to launch in the Old Line State.

Following the same strategy it has in other states, Fanatics Sportsbook is only currently accessible to Fanatics customers.

Fanatics Sportsbook now online in Maryland

On May 30, the sportsbook successfully completed a controlled demonstration of its online sports wagering platform, during which customers participated in live wagering as Maryland Lottery and Gaming staff evaluated the required procedures and system functionality.

It’s the fourth state Fanatics Sportsbook has launched, joining Ohio, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. As it has done in the other three states, Fanatics Sportsbook is only initially available to Fanatics customers. Eligible customers received an email with a code to access the online sportsbook.

It’s the tenth online sportsbook to launch in Maryland, joining nine other operators:

  • Barstool Sportsbook (operator for PENN Maryland/Hollywood Casino)
  • Betfred Sportsbook (operator for Long Shots)
  • BetMGM (operator for BetMGM Maryland Sports/MGM National Harbor)
  • BetRivers (operator for Arundel Amusements/Bingo World)
  • Caesars Sportsbook (operator for CZR Maryland Mobile Opportunity/Horseshoe Casino)
  • DraftKings (Crown MD online gaming)
  • FanDuel (operator for PPE Maryland Mobile/Live! Casino and Hotel)
  • PointsBet (operator for Riverboat on the Potomac)
  • SuperBook (SBOpco, LLC)

Fanatics Sportsbook joins retail element

Fanatics now has an online and retail sports betting element in the state, as FedExField, home of the Washington Commanders, opened the first retail sportsbook located in an NFL stadium in January. The Commanders reached an agreement with Fanatics Betting and Gaming to operate the facility.

The Fanatics Sportsbook is not the first sportsbook to open in accordance with an NFL team, but will be the first to actually open inside a stadium. The Arizona Cardinals opened the BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium at the start of the 2022 season, but the sportsbook is not officially located inside the stadium. The free-standing, 17,000-square foot sportsbook is located on the Great Lawn.

The Fanatics Sportsbook at FedExField is located alongside the Washington Commanders team store and can be accessed through its own entrance at Gate H, at Garrett Morgan Boulevard and FedEx Way.

The book is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
