Florida State has canceled all home athletic events through the weekend in the wake of an on-campus shooting that took place on Thursday.
While full details are not yet known, the latest reporting from ABC News says at least 1 person was killed in the shooting and injured at least 6 more. A suspect in the shooting is also in police custody, per reporting from ABC News.
As Florida State begins the healing process, it will not host any athletic events through April 20:
Florida State has also canceled all classes through Friday.
Florida State baseball was set to host Virginia this weekend. FSU softball was also slated to play in Tallahassee against Georgia Tech. Those games appear unlikely to be made up before the postseason starts in the coming weeks.
Students were advised to shelter in place at approximately 12:02 p.m. ET after FSU Alert reported an active shooter situation near the student union. At 3:18 p.m. ET, FSU Alert said law enforcement “neutralized the threat.”
