PrizePicks recently filed for two new trademarks with the U.S. Patent Office; one for what seems like a new type of competition and another for a tool to help track fantasy sports competition data and winnings.

The daily fantasy sports company filed for trademarks “PrizePicks Squads” on May 31, 2024, and “PrizePicks Streaks” on June 25, 2024. The company also registered for the similar “PrizePicks Streak” trademark on April 19, 2024.

A PrizePicks spokesperson declined to offer more information about the trademarks.

New Competition for Users?

Saturday Down South reached out to PrizePicks for more information on the filings and a potential launch for their use. No further details were provided, but a spokesperson did describe the filings as “new innovative game types.”

“We’re always working on new innovative game types to entertain sports fans,” a company spokesperson told SDS.

Looking at the trademark filings, it seems as if “PrizePicks Streaks” will be for a new type of game for users. The filing is identified as such on the U.S. Patent Office website:

“Downloadable computer software for facilitating fantasy sport play and fantasy sport participation, namely, software for conducting fantasy sports competitions; downloadable computer software for facilitating fantasy sport play and fantasy sport participation, namely, software for conducting fantasy sports competitions whereby users compete for prizes by making the highest number of continuous winning selections.”

The trademark seems to be a new competition for PrizePicks users to correctly guess as many continuous events in a row for prizes.

New Fantasy Sports Tool?

Additionally, “PrizePicks Squads” seems to be more of a tool for fantasy sports users that allows them to track their fantasy sports participation, fantasy sports results, and fantasy sports performance data.

The trademark is identified as such on the U.S. Patent Office:

“Downloadable computer software for facilitating fantasy sport play and fantasy sport participation, namely, software for submitting online fantasy sports entries, tracking fantasy sports performance data, and calculating fantasy sports earnings; downloadable software in the nature of a mobile application for facilitating fantasy sport play and fantasy sport participation, namely, software for submitting online fantasy sports entries, tracking fantasy sports performance data, collecting funds from fantasy sports participants, and distributing fantasy sports earnings.”

The final line of the identification also seems like it will allow users to collect fantasy sports league dues and distribute winnings through the software.
