ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is reportedly making even more than previously thought. According to reports by The Athletic and New York Post, Smith makes $12 million annually in total compensation.
Smith’s salary has been in the news lately in connection to fellow ESPN host Maria Taylor. A New York Post report revealed that Taylor was offered $5 million by ESPN in 2020 but turned it down seeking “Stephen A. Smith money.” In that report, The Post wrote Smith’s ESPN salary was $8 million.
The latest from The Post’s Andrew Marchand states that Smith’s “personal salary” is $8 million but that he also has a $4 million-per-year “production contract” which brings his total compensation to $12 million.
Smith’s reported salary became a hot topic on social media. Stewart Mandel of The Athletic opined that Smith’s salary shows that Nick Saban is “grossly underpaid” at just seven figures.
Yet another reminder that Nick Saban ($9M) is in fact grossly underpaid. https://t.co/UXLCWEZs8G
