NFL officials have a difficult job that they do not receive enough credit for. However, one official was particularly good at his job on Sunday.
Generally, when social media is talking about an official, it is not a good thing. More often than not, they are being ridiculed for a bad call or mistakes.
On Sunday, it was the rare case where the officials had the NFL fan base excited and praising them.
During the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers game, quarterback Sam Darnold hit Justin Jefferson for a 97-yard touchdown as the Vikings won the game, 23-17.
Jefferson showed off his amazing speed as he outran 2 49ers defensive backs en route to the special touchdown. When watching the play live though, you may have missed maybe the most impressive feat of all, and that was the speed the official showed on the play.
After social media realized the speed the official showed, the referee was being praised for his impressive display of athleticism.

Can we just talk about the REFEREE at the end?!?!?? Are we the only ppl who saw this man stop and spin after the catch, regain his angle, follow the play, get IN FRONT of Justin Jefferson, spin again, and watch the play unfold???

For at least one moment during the 2024 NFL season, the officials had fans cheering and celebrating for them. Don’t expect this to last too long, as we are always one questionable call away from having the officials back in a negative limelight.
