Ahead of their season opener against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles named their team captains for the 2021 season. The captains are: Jalen Hurts, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, Rodney McLeod, and Alex Singleton.
Hurts became the starter for the Eagles late last season replacing then starter Carson Wentz who was traded to the Indianapolis Colts earlier this year.
As the starter, the former Alabama quarterback threw for over 1,000 yards and six touchdowns, almost leading the Eagles to a spot in the playoffs falling short by one victory. While at Alabama, Hurts was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in 2016 before transferring to Oklahoma in 2019.
Cox, the eighth-year defensive tackle out of Mississippi State, had 6.5 sacks and 28 solo tackles in 2020. In his eight years with the Eagles, Cox has made the Pro-Bowl six teams. Cox was also named to the NFL’s All-Decade team
While at Mississippi State, Cox was an All-SEC and first-team All-American selection back in 2011.
