Chris Fowler facing growing criticism during call of Notre Dame-Ohio State

Published:
Chris Fowler was the subject of growing criticism throughout the Notre Dame-Ohio State game on Saturday night during the broadcast on ABC with Kirk Herbstreit.
Fowler is a household name for college football fans, as he has been front and center for some of the more popular shows, including “College GameDay” and the ABC primetime game on Saturday nights. In 2014, he became the play-by-play for the ABC “Saturday Night Football” booth alongside Herbstreit. He served as the host for “College GameDay” the popular Saturday morning college football preview show from 1990 – 2014.
Fans called out Fowler for a jinx ahead of an Ohio State field goal attempt, and also for mixing up a great catch by Notre Dame with an interception.
Here’s a sampling of some of the fan and media reaction:
ND receiver makes an absolutely amazing, bobbling catch.
Chris Fowler: “Is that intercepted?”
What?

ESPN/ABC struggling tonight. Chris Fowler has no idea where the ball is. No yellow first down line. Producer missed a play.

Chris Fowler has been noticeably way off on his calls tonight.
