Kirk Herbstreit faced backlash on Sunday afternoon for his comments about Ohio State feeling disrespected as the No. 4 team in the College Football Playoff.
Herbstreit, the ESPN analyst, noted that there’s usually a team that feels disrespected each year, and this year could be the Buckeyes, who will take on No. 1 Georgia.
The Buckeyes were ranked No. 2 for much of the rankings season until the lopsided loss to Michigan 2 weeks ago. Several fans noted that the Buckeyes had a chance to play their way in and not need a loss by Southern Cal, but they fell at home to Michigan.
Herbstreit often gets special attention anytime he talks about his alma mater, either way, and this was no different.
Here’s a sample of some of the comments toward Herbstreit:
Kirk Herbstreit playing the disrespect card for Ohio State is wild. What is he even going on about?

The hell is @KirkHerbstreit talking about, OSU coming in disrespected and angry? They only have themselves to blame, got their doors BLOWN OFF at home in their biggest game of the year and are still getting a shot. Man they should be thanking Utah. C’mon. #CFBPlayoff

I want to hear Herbstreit say since Ohio State didn’t play in their conference championship they don’t deserve an opportunity to play in the playoff.

Gotta give Herbstreit some credit for trying to get us some bulletin board material with his questioning #CFBPlayoff
