Fans shred NFL refs for controversial unnecessary roughness call involving Kyler Murray

It didn’t take long for controversy to show up during the first Sunday of the 2024 NFL season.

During the Cardinals’ opening game against the Bills, Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray appeared to give himself up on a slide attempt while scrambling out of the pocket. Buffalo cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram initially went in for a hit but then pulled up and grazed Murray as he was rolling over top of him.

The referees in the game still called an unnecessary roughness penalty on Ingram, resulting in an additional 15 yards for the Cardinals’ offense that extended their drive. Arizona would go on to score the game’s first touchdown on the possession.
