The Oklahoma Sooners have landed a commitment from an in-state prospect for the class of 2025.

Alexander Shieldnight, a 3-star edge rusher, took to social media to announce his commitment to the Sooners. Shieldnight is the No. 36 edge rusher and No. 11 overall prospect out of Oklahoma in 2025, per the 247Sports Composite Ranking.

Shieldnight stars for Wagoner High School in Wagoner, Oklahoma. The 6’2″, 220 pound edge rusher chose the Sooners over the Arkansas Razorbacks, Tennessee Volunteers, and others. Shieldnight collected 83 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles as a sophomore in 2022. Shieldnight also runs track and plays basketball for the Wagoner Bulldogs.

The pass rusher now makes up a stacked Oklahoma 2025 class. The Sooners currently have the No. 4 class for next year, behind only Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame. The Sooners have done a fantastic job of securing in-state talent, with 6 of 8 2025 recruits hailing from Oklahoma.
