On Thursday night, USA TODAY broke the news that Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze had placed a call to an escort service from his university-issued phone.
After a string of allegations of wrongdoing, Freeze had managed to hold on to his job, but that all came to an end on Thursday.
According to Ole Miss, Freeze has resigned, effective immediately, and assistant Matt Luke has been named the interim head coach:
ANNOUNCEMENT | Hugh Freeze has resigned effective immediately. Matt Luke interim head coach. Press conference live at 7:30 PM CT on ESPNews.

The news comes as a shock, as less than an hour ago, both Yahoo! Sports reporter Pat Forde and Dan Wolken of USA TODAY tweeted that there was explosive information that may cost Freeze his job.
Following Freeze’s resignation, Ole Miss held a press conference and explained that if he hadn’t stepped won, it would have fired him anyway for personal misconduct.
