It wasn’t Katy Perry, but it went over quite well.

After plenty of hype that the pop-star would return to Oxford, Miss. to be the guest picker for the Ole Miss-Texas A&M game, it was instead Rebels’ head coach Lane Kiffin who took that spot. Kiffin’s entrance started with one of the Ole Miss’ trademark plastic cups in hand as he was lounged with the crowd before he took the stage for College GameDay.

Perry was expected to be the guest picker for the show by many who follow Kiffin on Twitter. He had been teasing fans that could be the case. Instead, he becomes what is thought to be the first coach involved in College GameDay’s featured game to take part as a guest picker. The Rebels and Aggies play at 7 p.m. EST tonight.
