Lane Kiffin offers candid comments about lessons from last year’s losing skid
Lane Kiffin knows a thing or 2 about starting a season hot, but he also knows what it’s like to start hot and hit a losing skid at the end of the season.
Last season, the Rebels started the season 8-1 before losing their final 3 regular season games along with their bowl game. Ole Miss is off to another hot 7-1 start this year, and Kiffin is hoping to learn from last year’s collapse.
“I’ve said before I don’t think we handled that very well,” Kiffin said. “I think that the Alabama loss, we let that keep beating us and chance to go to 8-1 or 9-1, and then kind of fell apart. 2 years ago we lost to Alabama and played really well after, and it seems to me we’re doing the same thing this year and I think that says a lot about the players. Their resolve to overcome a bad game.”
After a dominant win over Vanderbilt Saturday, Ole Miss now looks ahead to a pair of tough games against Texas A&M and Georgia, which will be instrumental in making a late case for the College Football Playoff. After that, the Rebels have 2 games that should be relatively easy against UL Monroe and Mississippi State.
