Matt Corral and Ole Miss are coming off a 29-19 win over Texas A&M on Saturday in Oxford to improve to 8-2 on the season. The Rebels are still in strong shape to qualify for a New Year’s 6 bowl depending on how their next 2 games fare, and while they’ll be a heavy favorite against Vanderbilt on Nov. 20, they’ll have to get past Mississippi State on the road in the Egg Bowl to cap the regular season.
Corral had a decent performance against the Aggies, throwing for 247 yards and a touchdown on 24-of-37 passing, paired with 0 interceptions. That 0 interception number is essentially par for the course as he’s tossed just 2 all year. For the season, he’s thrown for 2,773 yards and 17 touchdowns while notching 523 yards and 10 scores on the ground despite being unable to gain much traction running the football against the Aggies.
Are those numbers enough to earn the junior the Heisman Trophy? Ole Miss certainly thinks so. It tweeted out a video on Sunday looking to boost the campaign for its quarterback with the regular season beginning to wind down:
