Gerquan Scott is staying in the ‘Sip. The experienced offensive lineman transfer from Southern Miss is headed up the road to Oxford.
Scott announced Tuesday that he has committed to play for Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss program.
“I wanted to express my sincere appreciation to each and every school for your efforts in recruiting me. After careful consideration, I believe I’ve made the best decision for my future and my family,” Scott wrote in a note posted to social media. “The coaches at Ole Miss have made a significant impression on me, and I can see how well I fit into the program. I am excited to pursue my dreams and give my all in my last year of college football. Please know that I am fully committed to the University of Mississippi.”
It’s a win for Kiffin and his staff over Hugh Freeze. Auburn hosted Scott for a campus visit this past weekend. South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Colorado and Virginia Tech are among the other programs that extended offers to Scott in the transfer portal.
Scott brings plenty of experience to Ole Miss. Over the past 3 seasons, he has been a starting guard on the Southern Miss offensive line, also logging some snaps at center. He is using the NCAA’s extra COVID-19 year of eligibility to be a super senior in 2024.
