Ole Miss’ defense got a big boost for 2024 on Tuesday. Jared Ivey is staying in the ‘Sip.

Ivey is the latest Rebel to run it back in Oxford next season instead of going pro or hitting the transfer portal. He announced his decision on social media, tagging The Grove Collective.

A Georgia Tech transfer, Ivey will be entering his 3rd season playing for Lane Kiffin’s team. He has played in all 25 games over the past 2 seasons.

Ivey posted a solid showing in 2022 (37 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks) and improved upon those numbers in 2023. This season, Ivey led the Rebels in TFLs (9.5) and sacks (5.5) while logging 41 tackles, also recovering a fumble and scoring a touchdown.

During a Tuesday media opportunity ahead of the Peach Bowl, Kiffin acknowledged that Ole Miss has been fortunate with draft “tweeners” deciding to boost their stock by playing another year of college football.

Ivey and the No. 11 Rebels are gearing up to face No. 10 Penn State in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30. Ole Miss is looking for its first 11-win season in program history.
