Ole Miss has made another adjustment to its future nonconference schedule. The Rebels have made a change to when they will play Sun Belt foe Georgia State.

Ole Miss had been scheduled to host Georgia State on Nov. 21, 2026. FBSchedules.com discovered through a records request that an addendum to the original contract reveals the teams have agreed to reschedule the meeting on the gridiron to Aug. 30, 2025.

The Georgia State game will serve as the Rebels’ 2025 season opener. The teams have not faced each other in football before.

The latest move fills up Ole Miss’ 2025 schedule. The Rebels will also face The Citadel, Wake Forest and Tulane in nonconference play. All SEC teams are playing the same conference opponents in 2024 and ’25. For Ole Miss, that means the 2025 slate will include home meetings with Arkansas, Florida, LSU and South Carolina along with road trips to Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

SEC nonconference scheduling has been in the spotlight recently as the conference has yet to announce its plans for 2026 and beyond. There has been some speculation that the SEC will move to 9 conference games starting in 2026.

Whether the SEC decides on 8 or 9 conference games for 2026, Ole Miss has at least one opening to fill. With the Georgia State game move to 2025, the Rebels have just Charlotte and Eastern Kentucky scheduled for 2026.

Ole Miss had scheduled a home-and-home series with USC for 2026 and ’27. It was revealed in June the series was no longer on. The series would have marked Lane Kiffin’s first game coached at USC since he was fired by the Trojans during the 2013 season.
