Ole Miss’ true freshman signal-caller was regarded by many as the top prep quarterback in the country. With Chad Kelly sidelined for the year, Hugh Freeze opted to pull Patterson’s redshirt.
Against Texas A&M on Saturday night, Patterson looked eerily like former Aggies’ legend Johnny Manziel. When flushed to his right, Patterson pivoted and reversed course — before finding a wide-open receiver in the end zone.
It was the first of many expected touchdowns for the youngster.
