2022 ESPY nominees include several former and current SEC standouts

The nominees for the 2022 ESPYs were announced and the SEC had nominees in several categories.
In the Best Athlete, Women’s Sports category, Auburn gymnast Suni Lee and former Tennessee women’s basketball and Chicago Sky forward Candace Parker were among the four athletes nominated. Lee was also a nominee for Best Olympian, Women’s Sports. Parker was nominated for Best WNBA Player. Former Florida swimmer Caeleb Dressel was a nominee for Best Olympian, Men’s Sports.
Former Tennessee women’s basketball player Diamond DeShields was nominated for Best Comeback Athlete, as well as former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow. The Georgia Bulldogs were nominated in the Best Team category.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young was nominated for two separate categories — Best Game and Best College Athlete, Men’s Sports. South Carolina women’s basketball player and national champion Aliyah Boston was a finalist for the Best College Athlete, Women’s Sports.
Former Alabama golfer Justin Thomas was a nominee for Best Athlete, Men’s Golf. The 2022 ESPYS will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
