Todd McShay released his most recent NFL mock draft to reflect the Panthers-Bears trade that involved top-10 picks.
The Bears traded the No. 1 pick to the Panthers for the No. 9 pick, the No. 61 pick, a 2024 first-round selection and a 2025 second-round pick, as well as wide receiver DJ Moore.
McShay still has Alabama quarterback Bryce Young as the No. 1 pick, now going to the Panthers. He explained his reasoning for keeping the Heisman Trophy winner at the top of the draft, despite “a little buzz” regarding Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson.
“He’s not only the top quarterback on my board but also my top overall prospect,” McShay said. “Young has elite pocket presence and poise, delivering strikes to every level of the field. And if the Panthers can figure out their receiver issues, I think this could be a really good fit with new coach Frank Reich.”
McShay believes the Bears will now go with Northwestern offensive tackle/guard Peter Skoronski with the No. 9 selection. McShay sees this pick as an opportunity to provide additional protection for quarterback Justin Fields. Skoronski doesn’t have an ideal frame but McShay is a fan of his athleticism.
“But he is sudden, almost always balanced in his set and powerful. And the explosion showed up in his vertical (34.5 inches) and broad jump (9-foot-7), both second-best among offensive linemen,” McShay noted.
Here’s McShay’s selections for the top 10:
No. 1 Carolina Panthers: Alabama QB Bryce Young
No. 2 Houston Texans: Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud
No. 3 Arizona Cardinals: Alabama OLB Will Anderson Jr.
No. 4 Indianapolis Colts: Florida QB Anthony Richardson
No. 5 Seattle Seahawks: Texas Tech DE Tyree Wilson
No. 6 Detroit Lions: Oregon CB Christian Gonzalez
No. 7 Las Vegas Raiders: Kentucky QB Will Levis
No. 8 Atlanta Falcons: Georgia OLB Nolan Smith
No. 9 Chicago Bears: Northwestern OT Peter Skoronski
No. 10 Philadelphia Eagles: Texas RB Bijan Robinson
