To be successful in football, teams have to be able to dominate the line of scrimmage with a good offensive line. The offensive line play in the SEC is as good as there is in the country, and, as such, 4 teams have landed on the Joe Moore Award Midseason Honor Roll.

Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas represent the SEC.

The Midseason Honor Roll includes 22 total offensive line units. The voting committee will release semifinalists for the real award on Nov. 12, and name finalists on Dec. 3.

Despite the loss to Vanderbilt, the Alabama offensive line has been terrific this year. The Crimson Tide are averaging 3.52 yards per contact on the ground, which leads the country. They are also 1 of 3 teams with multiple offensive linemen without a QB pressure allowed this year, per PFF.

The Tigers’ offensive line has been a huge reason why quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has thrown for 1,652 yards and 15 touchdowns through 5 games. Nussmeier has been sacked only 2 times this year, which is the fewest in the SEC and is tied for the fourth-fewest in college football.

Texas has one of the most experienced offensive lines in college football, and is second in the SEC with 5 sacks allowed. Most teams when they go to their backup quarterback would struggle, but the strong play from the offensive line has helped Arch Manning fill in for Quinn Ewers.

Tennessee is the final group from the SEC on this list. The Volunteers have rushed for at least 150 yards in every game this year, and are averaging 5.7 yards per carry. The Vols’ rushing attack ranks 12th nationally in efficiency.
