AP Top 25: Updated Week 10 poll features 6 SEC teams

The AP Top 25 is considered the college football poll of record for much of the season. Come Tuesday, however, there will be another poll take center stage.

The College Football Playoff selection committee will unveil its top 25 on Tuesday. The committee uses the AP rankings when considering a team’s resume for Weeks 1-9. From Halloween forward, however, the committee handles its own rankings.

Ahead of Tuesday’s rankings reveal, the Associated Press voters weighed in on the top teams in college football. The newest AP Top 25 features 6 teams from the SEC. Three of the SEC’s ranked teams picked up wins (Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee) Week 9, while the other 3 (Alabama, LSU, Mizzou) were on byes.

Georgia remains No. 1 in the AP Top 25 after improving to 8-0 with a Cocktail Party thumping of Florida. Bulldog fans will be watching closely to see if the selection committee agrees. The 5 other SEC teams all moved up in the new poll for Week 10.
