The SEC entered bowl season favored in nine of 12 games. Then two of the underdogs managed to win early, making it look like a potentially fantastic end to the 2014 season.

The beleaguered SEC East even finished 5-0.

But SEC West powerhouses Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn and LSU all lost, torpedoing the conference in the bowl standings. The conference finished fourth based on winning percentage and second among power five conferences behind the Pac-12.

The Big 12, left out of the College Football Playoff with TCU and Baylor just missing, went 2-5 in bowl games to finish last. With just two games left — the riveting GoDaddy Bowl on Sunday and the College Football Playoff championship in eight days — here are the bowl standings by conference.
