Media reacts to latest College Football Playoff rankings with new Top 10
By SDS Staff
Published:
After weeks of having the same top 6, there was a College Football Playoff Top 25 shakeup on Tuesday night. Florida fell out of its No. 6 spot after losing 37-34 at home to LSU on Saturday. Iowa State moved up to No. 6, which got the attention of many national media members.
Many media members opined that the committee is being unfairly rough on Group of 5 teams, especially Cincinnati.
Here’s a small sample of the general reaction to the penultimate rankings and how they pertain to the CFP and New Year’s Six bowl lineup:
Ha, yes. It’s about time the national media finally realize the selection committee respects the SEC. https://t.co/Ec6oy96ntf

Lol…I've been trying to tell people for years but i'm just glad college football fans can truly see what a joke this sham of a playoff is – 2020 has exposed the fraud in full.

Iowa State sitting two spots from a Playoff berth the last week of the regular season is not something I ever thought I'd live to see.

With Coastal Carolina only up to No. 12, it virtually guarantees Group of 5 will only get one Group of 5 team in New Year’s 6: either AAC champ Cincinnati or Sun Belt champ Coastal – but not both

I aired out the committee for catering to the P5 last week. Still applies this week: https://t.co/tw1N7GBh7u

Maybe next year the committee will watch some football games! @CFBPlayoff

Cincinnati deserves to be higher.

If you're ripping on USC in the College Football Playoff rankings – like the show is doing – because everyone in the Pac-12 is losing … then what's the argument for the Big Ten?

.@KirkHerbstreit: "If @OhioStateFB was going to drop down because of number of games, it would've been last week or this week. The reality is what it is with Ohio State. They're sitting at 5-0." #CFBPlayoff pic.twitter.com/iFHsSkbqmJ

TRUTH ; @CFBPlayoff is flat out WRONG and I’ll no longer recognize it as a Playoff.I’m done with it! “Eye test” code for Pure Playoff Privilege. It’s not a CFB Playoff it’s a Power 5 Invitational and from this point forward I’ll call it that!? @GoBearcatsFB dissed beyond belief!

Coastal Carolina fans are rooting HARD for Tulsa this weekend. A spot in the New Years Six is very much within reach for the Chanticleers.

Today’s CFP rankings confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt that no Group of Five team will ever make the playoff.

I’m sure if Florida and Iowa State played the Cyclones would be favored https://t.co/ghOGndPHUe
