College football rankings: Sports Illustrated’s preseason top 25 includes 5 SEC teams

The 2022 college football season is drawing ever closer, with games starting in a week on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Ahead of the season, Sports Illustrated writer Pat Forde released his top 25 rankings. As has become common in preseason polls, Alabama was the top team, with Georgia at No. 3 and Texas A&M also cracking the top 10.
Further down, Forde has Kentucky at No. 22 and Tennessee at No. 24:
- No. 1 — Alabama
- No. 3 — Georgia
- No. 8 — Texas A&M
- No. 22 — Kentucky
- No. 24 — Tennessee
Arkansas and Ole Miss fans will be surprised not to see their teams crack the top 25. Arkansas’s Week 1 foe, Cincinnati, checks in at No. 19 in Forde’s rankings.
We’ll see how things change once games actually start in a few short weeks.
