College GameDay is heading to Austin, Texas for Week 8’s battle between No. 5 Georgia and No. 1 Texas. The Longhorns and Bulldogs highlight what should be a truly excellent slate of college football.
Folks, this one is a no-brainer. Many assumed Austin would be the pick for Week 8, mostly because it could play host to one of the most important games of the season.
For one, the winner will be in excellent shape to reach the College Football playoff at the end of the year. And if Georgia wins, it makes the race for the SEC Championship that much tighter heading into the back half of the schedule.
This one is going to be BIG

The Longhorns are very likely to be favorites for next weekend’s matchup in Austin. The Longhorns face a Georgia team that fell to Alabama, but very nearly pulled off an all-time comeback. The Bulldogs have an excellent coach in Kirby Smart and the talent and athleticism to compete against anybody in the country.
We’ll find out exactly what Texas is all about across the next few weeks. The Longhorns downed an iffy Michigan squad and won its first SEC contest of the season against Mississippi State, but they face tougher tests in Oklahoma this week and Georgia in Week 8.
Next weekend’s battle will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
