College GameDay scores most-watched Week 8 show ever for Texas vs. Georgia
College GameDay was already enjoying its best ratings season ever before ESPN’s Saturday morning pregame show hit Austin for its Week 8 broadcast leading up to the primetime showdown between Georgia and Texas.
Then the ratings report arrived on Tuesday, and the show’s 2024 ratings tour de force got even better. Last Saturday’s program from Austin was the most-watched Week 8 show ever with 2.3 million viewers, including a staggering 3.1 million viewers during the final hour of the show.
Following @CollegeGameDay's Week 8 stop at @UTAustin, the premier CFB pregame program continues a historic run for its most-watched season EVER!

The show’s ratings peaked at 3.8 million viewers. The overall ratings for the Week 8 show were up 19% over the Week 8 ratings from last season, proof that college football fans aren’t going through any midseason doldrums.
College GameDay is on pace for its best season ever in the ratings department. It is averaging 2.2 million viewers in 2024, perhaps a sign that the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff is keeping more fans interested for a longer period of time this fall.
Whatever the reason for the higher ratings is this season, ESPN will take it, and in Week 9 the pregame show is heading to Bloomington for the 1st time on a Saturday for No. 13 Indiana’s Big Ten battle against Washington. The Hoosiers are riding high with that ranking and a 7-0 record, and they’ve been rewarded with a visit from ESPN’s popular pregame show.
