The ESPN FPI rankings have been updated following a thrilling Week 5 slate of games.

Alabama vs. Georgia was everything we could have imagined and more, but the ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) doesn’t really reflect that.

In fact, the top 6 remains unchanged this week. Texas held on to the No. 1 spot, with Alabama remaining No. 2. Ohio State, Georgia and Tennessee round out the top 5. The Bulldogs didn’t drop at all despite the loss. And No. 6 Ole Miss didn’t move despite an upset home loss to Kentucky. (The Wildcats did jump 15 spots, though.)

Here’s a look at the current top 25 FPI standings:

  1. Texas
  2. Alabama
  3. Ohio State
  4. Georgia
  5. Tennessee
  6. Ole Miss
  7. Notre Dame
  8. Penn State
  9. Oregon
  10. Miami
  11. USC
  12. Louisville
  13. Clemson
  14. Mizzou
  15. LSU
  16. Indiana
  17. Oklahoma
  18. Texas A&M
  19. SMU
  20. Kansas State
  21. Boise State
  22. Iowa State
  23. Kentucky
  24. Iowa
  25. South Carolina

Of the 16 SEC squads, there are 11 in the top 25 as things currently stand. Only Arkansas (27), Auburn (38), Florida (46), Vanderbilt (57) and Mississippi State (70) didn’t make the top 25.

There are 5 SEC-on-SEC matchups in Week 6, so we’ll see how things play out. Alabama takes on Vanderbilt, while Georgia hosts Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.

Check back next Sunday to see how the FPI rankings are impacted from Week 6 games.
