Report: ESPN tabs Marty Smith as Laura Rutledge’s fill-in during maternity leave

ESPN all-star Laura Rutledge announced Friday night that she was pregnant and that the baby is due in October.

Sadly for SEC fans, that’s right in the middle of the season, and Rutledge is a prominent figure on the SEC Network and ESPN. However, ESPN has already identified Rutledge’s fill-in while she’s on maternity leave.

Per a report by the Big Lead, Marty Smith will host SEC Nation during Rutledge’s absence. Smith will join Paul Finebaum, Marcus Spears and Tim Tebow for ESPN’s pregame show.

Rutledge is a budding superstar on the platform, but Smith certainly holds his own, too. Smith loves college football, and he’s engrained with SEC fans. He’ll be a nice fill in for Rutledge while on leave.
