ESPN’s FPI has the Alabama Crimson Tide coming out on top in a very close one against the Tennessee Volunteers in their upcoming matchup.
The model gives Kalen DeBoer’s team a 53.3% chance of coming out with the victory in a game that truly could go either way.
Both of these teams were heralded as potentially some of the best in the nation early in the year, but they have shown some signs of regression since then. Alabama most notably fell 40-35 to the Vanderbilt Commodores just a couple of weeks ago, and most recently dodged a loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks, 27-25.
Tennessee, despite some of the success quarterback Nico Iamaleava has had, has also had its issues. The Vols came out with a win in their latest showing, but it was a close one against a Florida team that has really struggled this season. They ultimately gained the edge, 23-17 in Neyland Stadium.
As of 3 weeks ago, FPI projected Alabama with an 54.2% chance to win in Knoxville.
It will be interesting to see how things shake out when Alabama and Tennessee get to the action at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Knoxville.
