Harold Perkins Jr. will be back at LSU for the 2025 campaign.

He announced that decision on Friday afternoon. Once touted as one of the best pass rushers in the country, Perkins has had a difficult couple of years since his standout freshman season in 2022. None more so than the 2024 season in-which he was limited to just 4 games due to a season-ending knee injury.

But Perkins will be back in the Purple and Gold for at least one more year:

Despite the injury in 2024 and inconsistency issues in 2023, Perkins will be regarded as one of the SEC’s top talents going into the 2025 campaign. He’s played in 31 career games at LSU and has already amassed 28 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. He also has 7 forced fumbles to his name.

LSU will be looking to take a big step forward defensively next season. The Tigers made some progress this fall in Year 1 with defensive coordinator Blake Baker running the show, but more work will need to be done in order to get the Tigers to the College Football Playoff for the first time in the Brian Kelly era.

In the short term, LSU has a bowl game to prepare for against Baylor on New Year’s Eve as it looks to close out the 2024 season on a high note.
