It’s time to crown an SEC champion.
With Weeks 0-14 in the books, we’ve reached conference championship weekend. Georgia and Texas are meeting in Atlanta to play in the SEC Championship Game, a rematch of the Oct. 19 meeting in Austin, a 30-15 win for the Bulldogs.
For the first time in the SEC Championship Game’s over 30-year history, it will air on ESPN/ABC platforms. The primary broadcast is set for ABC at 4 p.m. ET, with ESPN’s top team of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Holly Rowe calling the Georgia-Texas rematch alongside Laura Rutledge.
There are also 2 alternate telecast options for fans: on ESPN, a Field Pass presentation will feature Cole Cubelic, Harry Douglas, Ryan McGee and Marty Smith. On the SEC Network, a SkyCast viewing option will be highlighted with commentary from analysts Tim Tebow, Jordan Rodgers and Roman Harper.
Both Georgia and Texas are considered safely in the College Football Playoff field. Though Georgia won their previous meeting, Texas is the higher-ranked team, having only 1 loss while UGA has 2 losses. A first-round bye is on the line for the No. 2 Longhorns and No. 5 Bulldogs, as the 4 highest-ranked conference champions will claim the top 4 Playoff seeds. The loser of the game is in position to make the CFP via an at-large bid.
