Jackson Arnold warned of ‘cursed’ SEC stadium by Carson Beck
By Andrew Olson
Published:
Jackson Arnold has been warned about his first SEC road environment.
Oklahoma will play its first four games at home in 2024. The Sooners will host Temple, Houston and Tulane for their first three games before Josh Heupel returns to Norman as Tennessee’s head coach when the Volunteers visit on Sept. 21. The following week, it’s on the road in the SEC.
OU will play at Auburn on Sept. 28. Arnold, the returning Oklahoma quarterback, amusingly shared that he has been warned about Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Meeting up close with the media, Arnold revealed that Georgia QB Carson Beck described the stadium on The Plains as “cursed.”

Later in the day, Arnold was asked if he could provide more details on the conversation between SEC QBs at the Manning Passing Academy.
“He thought the place was cursed, man,” Arnold told reporters. “I think their game was like a one-touchdown game. He said it could have gone either way, but he said that place is extremely hard to play in.
“Again, we love a challenge. We want the challenge.”
Those who have followed the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry might be a bit surprised by Beck’s claim as Georgia’s last loss at Auburn, Nov. 11, 2017, predates the QB’s signing at UGA.
It’s true, though, that Beck and the Bulldogs had quite the time at Jordan-Hare. Auburn jumped out ot a 10-0 lead in the 1st quarter. Georgia rallied, tying it up 10-10 before the half. ESPN’s win probability gave Auburn a 60.2% chance of pulling off the upset early in the 3rd quarter when AU took a 17-10 lead. It was 20-20 in the 4th quarter before Beck connected with Brock Bowers on a 40-yard touchdown pass. UGA held on for the 27-20.
We’ll see how Arnold and the Sooners fare in their first-ever game at Auburn.
