Joel Klatt released his Top 10 rankings following Week 5’s action, and it features four out of the five top teams hailing from the SEC.
Alabama took over the top spot following its intense 41-34 win over Georgia on Saturday, which dropped the Bulldogs to the fifth spot in Klatt’s rankings. Texas followed the Crimson Tide after Arch Manning & C0. cruised to a win over Mississippi State in their SEC-opener.

Ohio State breaks the SEC trend at No. 3, with the Buckeyes eyeing a home date with Iowa this week after they took down Michigan State 38-7. Tennessee moved up to the fourth spot in Klatt’s rankings off of a bye week.
Penn State and Oregon make up spots 6 and 7 after both teams held off conference foes in Illinois and UCLA, respectively. Miami remains in Klatt’s top 10 at the No. 8 spot after surviving a scare from Virginia Tech on Friday, while Mizzou (idle) and Clemson (40-14 win over Stanford) round out the top 10.
Klatt’s honorable mentions include Iowa State, Michigan, USC, Oklahoma and Ole Miss, with the first four teams on that list having won over the weekend.
