Kirk Herbstreit gives health update on beloved dog Ben, requests prayers

Kirk Herbstreit shared a concerning health update on his dog, Ben, on Monday evening.
Herbstreit disclosed that Ben has been admitted to an overnight ER as he continues to fight Leukemia. The beloved golden retriever has been undergoing treatment in recent months, but Herbstreit said he’s now having trouble walking and eating.
He said Ben has been declining since receiving a second chemo injection back on Oct. 23.
“The next 24-48 hours will tell us if he has a chance or not,” Herbstreit wrote in the post below. Here’s his full statement on Ben’s status:
I’ve had so many people asking me about Ben that I wanted to let you know-Ben had a 2nd chemo injection on October 23rd and from that day has been getting worse and worse. Ben Herbstreit became a fixture at Kirk’s side last season and continued to travel to some college football and NFL games at the start of the 2024 season. Ben quickly became a fan favorite, and athletic departments across the country began gifting him special access credentials to wear while he was on site at games.
Hopefully Herbstreit is able to provide a positive update on Tuesday morning.
