Kirk Herbstreit is one of the most recognizable faces in sports media.

Herbstreit has never been afraid to fire off the hot takes, and on Monday, the analyst aimed at DirecTV.

If you didn’t hear, DirecTV customers are now unable to view any ESPN channel due to a dispute between the companies. The decision to black out all Disney and ABC/ESPN channels came just moments before kickoff in the LSU-USC matchup.

Herbstreit took to social media to shoutout DirecTV competition YouTubeTV, saying he knew having the service would “pay off.”

Herbstreit also mentioned that his four boys agreed with the call to get YouTubeTV just in case an incident like this happens.

YouTubeTV has exploded in popularity recently as traditional cable falls to the wayside. Blackouts are one of the main reasons why people have fled cable for services like YouTubeTV.

Fans across the country are hoping the mega companies can come to a resolution sooner than later. DirecTV customers will miss the Week 1 finale on Monday, as the Florida State Seminoles take on the Boston College Eagles on ESPN.

In Week 2, ESPN and ABC are slated to host Arkansas-Oklahoma State, Kansas State-Tulane, South Florida-Alabama, Tennessee-NC State, and countless other games that no college football fan will want to miss.

Missing Week 2 of the college football season would be a huge disappointment for millions of DirecTV subscribers. Here’s to hoping negative backlash and comments from respected voices like Herbstreit help bring this to a resolution quickly.
