Lee Corso has been outspoken in the past about his appreciation for the city of Eugene and the University of Oregon. Unfortunately, ESPN’s popular “College GameDay” personality will not be on hand to make a headgear pick for the Week 7 broadcast.
Speaking on Friday, ESPN host Rece Davis revealed Corso was unable to make the trip as he remains under the weather. Corso was absent from the Week 6 broadcast from Cal, and Week 7 will mark the 3rd on-site broadcast that Corso has missed so far this season. (The overseas trip to Dublin, Ireland is the other.)
Davis relayed that Corso expressed regret for missing “his best friend,” the Oregon Duck:
“I talked to him earlier and he said he was sorry he is missing his best friend, The Duck,” said Davis.

It is a shame for Corso to miss a return to Eugene. While the Ducks were featured on College GameDay during the 2023 season, those appearances came as a visiting team. This will be GameDay’s first trip back to Eugene since the 2022 season.
