Long-time NFL doctor weighs in on gruesome injury to UCF QB McKenzie Milton

UCF QB McKenzie Milton suffered one of the worst injuries you’ll ever see on a football field on Friday afternoon, dislocating his knee.
That required a quick trip to the hospital, where Milton had emergency surgery, likely to restore blood flow to his leg to try to save his leg.
While we await more news on the star quarterback, longtime NFL doctor David J. Chao shared his thoughts on the injury via Twitter:
This situation is similar to #ZachMiller @ChicagoBears.
Undoubtedly emergency surgery to restore blood flow as permanent muscle damage occurs within hours if circulation not restored. https://t.co/bISj8JsEk9— David J. Chao – ProFootballDoc (@ProFootballDoc) November 24, 2018
Dislocated knee confirmed.
Likely emergency surgery to "save" his leg comes next as artery likely disrupted. This is a #ZachMiller @ChicagoBears situation. Wish this athlete the best but any @NFL dreams are likely over. https://t.co/eHcbYaJiGA— David J. Chao – ProFootballDoc (@ProFootballDoc) November 24, 2018
I only saw it on my phone but hard to see nonetheless. Good chance to have his leg saved. Slim chance that he can return to high level football.

Obviously, this is a terrifying situation for Milton and the UCF family. No matter who you root for, you never want to see guys go down like this.
Hopefully, Milton is eventually able to return to full strength and get back on the football field, but for now, the focus is on saving his leg, which is very scary.
