Mississippi State and Texas Tech will meet in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis on Dec. 28.

The Bulldogs played the Memphis Tigers at Liberty Bowl Stadium on Sept. 18, losing 31-29.

That day, Mississippi State fans were not allowed to bring the cowbells that they’re known for to the stadium.

That won’t be the case for the bowl game against the Red Raiders, however, as cowbells will be allowed.

Bulldogs coach Mike Leach, of course, will be coaching against his old school in the game.

He complied an 84-43 mark at Texas Tech from 2000-09.

On Sunday night, the always entertaining Leach took to Twitter to offer his thoughts on the cowbells and also have some fun at the expense of his former school.

“I just heard that cowbells will be allowed at the Liberty Bowl for our game on December 28th,” tweeted Leach. “Texas Tech has a bell that they ring but ours will be louder!”

Mississippi State will enter the Liberty Bowl with a 7-5 record while the Red Raiders are 6-6.

The game will be played at 6:45 p.m. EST and be televised by ESPN.
