Hurricane Matthew wreaked havoc up the east coast last week, causing two SEC versus SEC games to be postponed — though that’s a small number in consideration of the damage.
Georgia and South Carolina simply moved their matchup to Sunday, when the Bulldogs breezed past the Gamecocks in a 28-14 win, ensuring South Carolina would be left out of the projections again with the exception of one ESPN vote.
LSU and Florida have yet to reschedule their meeting, but one would assume that will happen before the season ends.
The Commodores are still winless in the SEC after falling 20-13 to Kentucky, which means Vanderbilt again joins South Carolina on the outside of the bowl projections. Even though Kentucky won that matchup, the Wildcats are still left out of the bowl season right now, except for a couple of ESPN votes.
Between Tide QB Jalen Hurts and Tide DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, Arkansas never stood a chance against Alabama in a 49-30 shellacking.
We were surprised by Auburn’s dominating 38-14 win over Mississippi State, although it’s hard to tell if it was surprising that the Tigers have performed so well or that the Bulldogs have performed so poorly. Either way, Mississippi State is out.
Perhaps the most notable happening of Week 6 was that Tennessee’s luck finally ran out. The Vols tried to make a comeback against Texas A&M, but it wasn’t enough, and the Aggies came out with the 45-38 double-overtime victory.
