Netflix has announced a new documentary series that will highlight several SEC football programs.
Crews had full access to a reported 10 SEC teams throughout the 2024 season. Per Netflix, the documentary is set to premier in the summer of 2025.
According to The Athletic’s Seth Emerson, these are the 10 SEC teams who will be featured in the documentary: Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
The possibility of a documentary series involving multiple SEC programs was first reported over the summer. According to initial reports, all SEC teams were given the option to participate or opt-out of the process. SEC teams will continue to have that option in future years, according to a statement from SEC spokesperson Herb Vincent.
“When a majority of the member schools indicated an interest in participating, the SEC proceeded with Netflix on production of the series with the understanding that schools can opt in or out of participation in subsequent years,” Vincent told The Athletic.
The documentary is believed to be in the style of Netflix’s “Drive to Survive,” which has been credited with increasing popularity for Formula 1 racing in recent years.
The documentary is set to feature 8 45-minute episodes. An initial release date has not yet been announced.
