NFL announces drastic changes to kickoff rules for 2018 season

The kickoff is one of the most-dangerous plays in football, and the NFL has made some serious changes to the play in recent years.

However, heading into the 2018 season, the rules for kickoffs have been changed once again, and this time, the changes are major.

From players not being able to get running starts to a rule mandating that five players line up on each side of the kicker, here are the changes passed by league owners on Tuesday:

Only time will tell if these changes make the play safer, but it is certain that kickoffs will look much different in 2018 and beyond.

Now, it’s fair to question how long it will take these rules to reach the college game.
