Former Ohio State WRs coach Zach Smith was arrested Thursday for violating his civil protection order, per a report from the Toledo Blade’s Kyle Rowland.

According to Rowland, Smith “became confrontational with staff at Scioto Ridge Elementary when they did not allow him to pick up his children.” He was arrested and taken to the Delaware County Jail on a misdemeanor charge.

Smith’s ex-wife Courtney Carano filed the protection order in July. He’s scheduled to be arraigned at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Smith, of course, was the former OSU assistant at the front of the Ohio State scandal last summer. College football insider Brett McMurphy’s explosive investigation into the incident involving Smith and former coach Urban Meyer. Meyer, of course, was suspended for the first three games of the season, and he later retired from coaching.
