Savoring the Spotlight: Biggest Week 12 games in the SEC East and SEC West

We’ve made it to the final weeks of the season, and teams are fighting for postseason positioning.
There are some huge conference games for the SEC in Week 12, and SDS is going to break down who’s savoring the spotlight.
SEC East
South Carolina at Florida: The Head Ball Coach returns to Gainesville in a showdown of two underachieving SEC East teams. The Gators are still alive in the race for the Eastern Division championship, though they need the chips to fall their way. Could this be Steve Spurrier’s final trip to Gainesville as a head coach in the SEC?
Auburn at Georgia: It’s the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry in Athens on Saturday night as Auburn and Georgia square off in a game with big implications. After suffering its second loss, Auburn faces a must-win, while Georgia looks to keep pace with Missouri in the SEC East. This has the makings of a shootout, but as we saw last season, anything can happen when the Tigers and Bulldogs get together.
SEC West
LSU at Arkansas: The Hogs are a favorite at home on Saturday, in what’s expected to be a wintry atmosphere at Razorback Stadium. LSU comes in limping after an overtime loss to Alabama last week, while Arkansas is still searching for that ever-elusive first conference win under Bret Bielema.
Mississippi State at Alabama: Once again, Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide are involved in the marquee game in the SEC. It’s a game that carries massive SEC West implications as Mississippi State — despite being the No. 1-ranked team in the country — looks to legitimize itself as an underdog in this game. Can Dan Mullen, Dak Prescott and company show they’re for real?
