Savoring the Spotlight: Biggest Week 9 games in the SEC East and SEC West

We’re beginning to meet that portion of the schedule where teams must bring it each week and anything can happen.
There are some huge conference games for the SEC in Week 9, and SDS is going to break down who’s savoring the spotlight.
SEC East
Mississippi State at Kentucky: Doesn’t this reminisce of the old 12:19 EST kickoffs on Jefferson Pilot? Will the three Daves be there? Instead it’s Verne and Gary as No. 1 Mississippi State travels to Lexington. The Wildcats are looking to rebound off a humiliating loss at the hands of LSU. The test is tougher this week, however, with Dan Mullen’s Bulldogs coming to town. Kentucky has a history of pulling some monumental upsets at home, though…
Alabama at Tennessee: The Third Saturday in October commences in Knoxville as Alabama travels to Rocky Top to take on Tennessee. This game used to have so much history and tradition around it — it still does — but the Crimson Tide have dominated this game since Phil Fulmer retired. Tennessee desperately needs a marquee win, and downing mighty Alabama would certainly qualify.
SEC West
Ole Miss at LSU: No. 3 Ole Miss travels to Death Valley for a night game against No. 24 LSU, who seems to be hitting its stride at the midway point of the season. This game is sneaky for the Rebels, who haven’t played a 60 minutes of dominant football yet this season. GameDay will be in town, and for Ole Miss to survive a mind-numbing volume inside Tiger Stadium, “Good Bo” absolutely has to show up.
South Carolina at Auburn: It’s another good cross-divisional matchup on the Plains at the Head Ball Coach and the Gamecocks take on No. 5 Auburn. The Tigers are looking to right the ship after its first loss, while South Carolina is looking for its best win of the season.
