The 2024 college football season is rolling along, and we’ve reached Week 7. Get ready for another full day of SEC football, with 13 teams playing in 7 games!
The early window features two games.
Both South Carolina and No. 7 Alabama are in bounce-back mode as they tangle in Tuscaloosa. No. 21 Mizzou is also looking to get back in the win column. The Tigers are the only SEC team playing a nonconference opponent, going on the road to face UMass.
In the afternoon window, the Red River Rivalry is in the spotlight. No. 1 Texas and No. 18 Oklahoma meet in the Cotton Bowl for the first time as SEC teams. Conference commissioner Greg Sankey memorably attended last year’s thriller in Dallas. This time, it’s truly an SEC showdown.
Also in the afternoon window is the battle of the Bulldogs in Athens. No. 5 Georgia bounced back with a victory over Auburn in Week 6, and will look to make it back-to-back SEC wins facing a struggling MSU squad.
The evening window features 3 meetings of familiar foes, including 2 noted rivalry clashes.
No. 8 Tennessee hosts Florida on Rocky Top. The Gators have dominated the rivalry this century, winning 17 of the last 20. The 3 wins for the Vols from 2004-23, though, all came in Knoxville (’04, ’16, ’22).
The Magnolia Bowl is the only SEC clash featuring 2 top-15 teams. As we inch closer to the College Football Playoff’s Selection Sunday, No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 13 LSU are both under pressure to avoid picking up a second loss. Ole Miss is looking for its first win in Death Valley since 2008.
The last kickoff of the night comes from Lexington, where Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt. There’s a little more intrigue between the former division rivals as the Commodores and the Wildcats claim the 2 biggest upset wins of the SEC season, taking down Alabama and Ole Miss in recent weeks.
Here’s the full schedule:
- South Carolina at No. 7 Alabama – 12:00 p.m. ET on ABC
