SEC officially welcomes Oklahoma, Texas into the league with hype video: ‘The new era of More’
Oklahoma and Texas officially became SEC members when the calendar flipped to July 1 on Monday morning.
The move comes a couple of years years after it was originally announced that the Sooners and Longhorns would be moving to the SEC. The league now has 16 teams as it jumps into the next era of college football.
To mark the occasion, the SEC shared a new hype video celebrating their arrival — but also the SEC’s storied tradition — on Monday morning:
It’s time to upgrade your expectations for what college athletics can be.

Oklahoma and Texas also each put out videos of their own to celebrate joining the SEC.
Here’s Oklahoma’s video, which is narrated by actor Ed Harris:

As Oklahoma and Texas prepare to officially join the SEC, they will have their work cut out for them.
The Sooners won 10 games a season ago, but have a regular-season win total of just 7.5 for the 2024 campaign, per FanDuel. That’s largely because OU is set to face one of the nation’s toughest schedules in 2024. The Sooners’ slate includes matchups against Texas, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Missouri. Oklahoma will also face Auburn on the road and South Carolina at home to round out the schedule.
Texas is coming off of a College Football Playoff appearance in 2023. The Longhorns return quarterback Quinn Ewers along with several other key players as they look to make another run at a national championship. FanDuel has set Texas’ regular-season win total at 10.5 for this year. UT’s SEC schedule includes matchups against Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Florida, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Texas will also face Michigan in nonconference play.
