The SEC Tournament is officially here!
On Wednesday, there are 2 first-round games that will be contested in Nashville, featuring the lower seeds in the bracket.
While only the 11-14 seeds will be in action on Wednesday night, there will surely be some exciting basketball, as the teams are evenly matched.
The pair of games on Wednesday will set the final matchups for Thursday’s second round, which will feature 4 games throughout the day.

On Thursday, No. 5 seed Tennessee, No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Florida, No. 9 Mississippi State and No. 10 Arkansas will also play their first games of the tournament.
Here’s a look at the current bracket setup ahead of the 2023 SEC men’s basketball tournament:
Alabama, as the SEC regular-season champion, earned the No. 1 seed in the bracket. No. 2 seed Texas A&M, No. 3 seed Kentucky and No. 4 seed Mizzou also earned double-byes in the tournament and won’t have to play until Friday’s quarterfinals.
It’s the first time since joining the SEC for the 2012-13 season that Mizzou has earned a top-4 seed in the conference tournament.
Here’s a look at the schedule and TV information for Wednesday’s SEC Tournament double-header:
- No. 12 South Carolina vs. No. 13 Ole Miss: 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network
- No. 11 Georgia vs. No. 14 LSU: 9 p.m. ET on SEC Network
Ole Miss recently parted ways with coach Kermit Davis. Can the Rebels overcome the loss of their coach and win a game or 2 in Nashville without him? Or will the Gamecocks finally get the most out of their talent and end Ole Miss’s season?
Can Georgia snap out of a recent slump and take down LSU, a team that finished a miserable 2-16 in SEC play?
We’ll see how things shake out in Nashville, but one thing is for sure — expect the unexpected this week! Then, it’ll be interesting to see how many SEC teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament come Selection Sunday.
Alabama, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Mizzou and Tennessee all figure to be safely in the field of 68 March Madness teams. Auburn, Arkansas, Mississippi State and even Vanderbilt are all on the NCAA Tournament bubble and could use a win or 2 this week to solidify their standing with the Selection Committee.
That should lead to some intense matchups throughout the SEC Tournament.
