The transfer portal has set a new single-day record for the number of entrants, according to a report.

Per The Athletic’s Max Olson, over 500 FBS scholarship football players have already entered the portal on Monday. This is the first time underclassmen were able to enter the transfer portal while maintaining eligibility for the following season.

According to Olson’s report, Monday’s total surpasses the old single-day record of 456 portal entrants, which was set last year.

The total number of college football players who have entered the portal on Monday is even higher. According to SportSource Analytics, over 1,000 players (including FCS, Division II and walk-ons) have entered the portal on Monday — also a new record.

Some of the biggest names in the transfer portal so far include Duke quarterback Riley Leonard, Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel, Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolan and UCLA quarterback Dante Moore.

The transfer portal window will remain open until Jan. 2. There will be another portal window in the spring that lasts from May 1 through May 15.
